چکیده

It is a challenge to track vegetative growth over time and to re-identify a moving vegetation object between collection intervals. In this paper we propose a set of methods to re-identify a patch, a procedure which will provide insight into the growth patterns of the vegetation. After describing our model, we propose two methods for re-identification, a centroid approach based on distance, and using a patch’s area to calculate the maximum intersection. We make a non-split and non-merge assumption for each of these methods and apply the techniques on sample data set collected in the Cosumnes River floodplain of an invasive weed Lepidium latifolium over a three year period. Based on the results, we can determine how to combine, and refine, the techniques to yield the most probable matches. We also discuss query optimization and index structure to accelerate the re-identification process for large scale problems. We believe that our methods will facilitate applications on moving vegetation objects.

Phoneme Classification Using Temporal Tracking of Speech Clusters in Spectro-temporal Domain

This article presents a new feature extraction technique based on the temporal tracking of clusters in spectro-temporal features space. In the proposed method, auditory cortical outputs were clustered. The attributes of speech clusters were extracted as secondary features. However, the shape and position of speech clusters change during the time. The clusters temporally tracked and temporal tra...

Deciphering structural and temporal interplays during the architectural development of mango trees.

Plant architecture is commonly defined by the adjacency of organs within the structure and their properties. Few studies consider the effect of endogenous temporal factors, namely phenological factors, on the establishment of plant architecture. This study hypothesized that, in addition to the effect of environmental factors, the observed plant architecture results from both endogenous structur...

Temporal analysis of natural variation for the rate of leaf production and its relationship with flowering initiation in Arabidopsis thaliana

Vegetative growth and flowering initiation are two crucial developmental processes in the life cycle of annual plants that are closely associated. The timing of both processes affects several presumed adaptive traits, such as flowering time (FT), total leaf number (TLN), or the rate of leaf production (RLP). However, the interactions among these complex processes and traits, and their mechanist...

Designing a predictive guidance and control system for maneuverable ground moving target tracking in 3D space using a Hexarotor

In this paper, the continuity of tracking a ground moving target using a Hexarotor is considered in the presence of sudden changes in direction, deceptive movements, temporary departure from the field of view (FOV) and changes in the height of the target. In this regard, a hierarchical guidance and control system for target tracking problem in an unknown environment and disturbances is proposed...

Automated tracking of stem cell lineages of Arabidopsis shoot apex using local graph matching.

Shoot apical meristems (SAMs) of higher plants harbor stem-cell niches. The cells of the stem-cell niche are organized into spatial domains of distinct function and cell behaviors. A coordinated interplay between cell growth dynamics and changes in gene expression is critical to ensure stem-cell homeostasis and organ differentiation. Exploring the causal relationships between cell growth patter...
